dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the effectiveness of two soil enhancers, Physiomax and Leonardite, in reclaiming saline soils and improving crop productivity under semi-controlled conditions in Hungary. Using lysimeters filled with meadow chernozem soil and irrigated with saline tap water, the research assessed soil moisture retention, salt leaching, and plant performance across multiple depths. Both conditioners enhanced surface soil moisture and promoted salt movement to deeper layers, with Leonardite showing greater salt leaching capacity and green bean yield, while Physiomax improved chlorophyll content and cucumber yield. Despite observed improvements, results varied by season, soil depth, and crop type, and statistical analysis found no significant differences between treatments. The findings suggest that both amendments have potential, but their effectiveness depends on crop tolerance, salinity intensity, and treatment duration.
