| dc.description.abstract | The doctoral dissertation investigates the impact of information systems on the competitiveness of the food sector's supply chain in Jordan. The research aims to empirically validate an integrated model that explores the relationship between IS-enabled capabilities and market responsiveness. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the author analyzed quantitative data collected from 200 industry professionals. The findings reveal that information systems adoption is the strongest direct driver of supply chain competitiveness. However, technology alone is insufficient; dynamic organizational capabilities are essential to translate digital investments into tangible market advantages. The study highlights that the strategic use of information systems for sustainability directly improves a firm's market position and performance. Conversely, the traditional resource-based view, relying solely on possessing valuable resources, did not show a significant direct effect on competitiveness in this rapidly changing environment. The effectiveness of key performance indicators acts mainly as a supporting, diagnostic tool, rather than generating direct competitive advantage on its own. Furthermore, the mediation analysis confirmed that technological implementation challenges do not dictate failure as long as the organization is sufficiently resilient. Ultimately, achieving supply chain competitiveness in the Jordanian market requires the combined presence and application of digital infrastructure, organizational agility, and strategic sustainability. | |
