dc.description.abstractSickle cell disease is a life threatening disease that can alter the quality of life of the patient. The symptoms can be debilitating with crisis. Diagnosis entails prenatal and postnatal diagnostic methods. lifestyle changes is one of the main things the patient should be educated about. Treatment with hydroxyurea and newer drugs have shown to help with reducing the crisis. Hematopoietic stem cell transplant and gene therapy are showing promise for the future.hu_HU
