Operation Torch is considered to be one of the most important strategic decisions of the Allies during the Second World War. It was carried out in the period between 8 November 1942 and 12 May 1943. In fact it was the first Anglo-American offensive in the west. Although it took place in North Africa, it had a great strategic significance to the European war.
