In these days, the worldwide prevalence of overweight and obesity is getting considerably high along with modernization of living environment and westernization of lifestyle. The importance of obesity management is highlighted by the fact that obesity is capable of inducing numerous comorbidities. Therefore, obesity treatment methods are now in the great interest of public health. There have been various medications used for obesity treatment and still, the researches for development of new drugs are actively being conducted. In this paper, in addition to general information about obesity, pharmacological methods will be discussed in detail including their mechanism of action, efficacy and adverse effects.
