| dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores the management of proximal tibia (tibial plateau) fractures in elderly patients treated at the University of Debrecen between 2020 and 2021. It highlights that these fractures, often caused by low-energy falls in older adults with osteoporosis, require careful classification and individualized treatment. Using Schatzker and AO/OTA systems, the study found Type II and Type 41-B3 fractures were most common, especially in women. Surgical approaches, particularly open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), provided better outcomes in terms of joint stability and recovery. Advanced imaging (CT, MRI) played a key role in diagnosis and surgical planning. The study emphasizes the importance of early mobilization and personalized care in improving recovery and minimizing complications. | |
