Direct composite restorations have become a crucial part of dental treatments. A cautious choice of restoration technique along with applicable material and case selection governs the success of final composite resin restoration. By applying layering techniques the optical properties of the tooth can be reproduce using the correct opacity and translucency of each increment and reduce shrinkage stress, cusp deformation and microleakage, while time reduction is a great advantage in bulk-fill technique. It simplifies the steps by avoiding several increments. It is safe for posterior cavities up to 4 mm depth to fill with a low shrinkage bulk-fill composite resin. A layer more than 4 or 5 mm can cause elution of some bulk-fill component, compared to a 2 mm thick layer in incremental techniques. However, the lower mechanical properties of most bulk-fill composites compared to highly filled nanohybrid conventional composite resins may be a downside under posterior high occlusal load, which indicates a layer of 2 mm micro filled composite coverage for bulk fill technique.hu_HU
