The present thesis demonstrates Pattern Grammar, a relatively new area in linguistics which has emerged from the COBUILD project. The first chapter overviews what is a Pattern itself, how is it presented in language, what is the notion of Pattern Grammar and how it was developed. The main focus is on explaining verb patterns and ways of their identification. The following chapters, outline how verb patterns are implemented in dictionaries. Also, how important word classes and frames are. The FrameNet will be compared to Pattern Grammar. Finally, it is explained how Pattern Grammar can be applied to Language Teaching.hu_HU
