There are several intravenous anesthetics, and more are being improved to lower the hurdles to their clinical application. In comparison to conventional inhalant anesthesia, TIVA has many advantageous contextual advantages and is widely used in clinical settings. Although TIVA has not yet completely replaced the use of inhalant anesthesia, further characterization of pharmacodynamic effect and pharmacokinetic models will enable TIVA's use in practice to be maximized.
