Undertale’s soundtrack and the various other miscellaneous sound effects used in-game contribute to the presentation of an intriguing story and create a whole world around said narrative, making the game a truly unique, immersive and thought-provoking experience in the realm of not only indie games, but also in the context of video games in general. This thesis explores the philosophy and many inspirations behind the creation of Undertale, followed by the story itself and how the many musical elements help to further immerse the player into the world of Undertale, and finally concluding with the impact Undertale left on not only the community and the gaming industry as a whole, but also on Toby Fox.
