Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, the primary cause of death worldwide.the traditional therapeutic agents (as statins, niacin and ezetimibe) in comparison to the new emerging targeted drugs that exist in current literature and clinical trials regarding the management of hyperlipidemia, their indication, mechanism of action, safety, efficacy and importantly their ability to improve the outcomes for patients with cardiovascular risk.
