Schizozsaccharomyces japonicus is the only dimorphic fission yeast and Schizosaccharomyces pombe is the attractive model organism. Our aim was to clone the Schizosaccharomyce japonicus nrg1 gene into a shuttle vector to investigate its function in the closely related Schizosaccharomyces pombe cells.
