Different Types of IPA Beers Analysis by HPLC and Mass Spectrophotometry
Absztrakt
Beers are produced by the brewing process. It is an alcoholic brewage that is made from water, hops, yeast barley and other grains. There are many different types of beers some are with intense flavours while others have mild flavours. The flavour of beer is the result of the interaction of various compounds in the beer. The variety of hops used can give beer different taste, hops contain flavonoids. Flavonoids are found in many beers and can be analysed using HPLC-Mass spectrometry. Here we analysed 7 different types of beers including company and craft beers. I found that craft beers had unique compounds and more flavonoids compared to company beers this can be due to craft beers being made from unique varieties of Hops, the wide variety of flavonoids not only contributes to the unique taste but also significant health benefits as many flavonoids have anti-cancer and antioxidant properties. Therefore, it is suggested that brewing companies should include many beneficial flavonoids in their beers for their consumers health benefit.
