| dc.description.abstract | Thyroid gland plays a key role in the body's metabolism and regulation of body functions through its production of thyroid hormones. Hyperthyroidism occurs when the activity of thyroid gland is exaggerated and releases excess thyroid hormones into the bloodstream. It is relatively common but usually treatable and curable disease. Main treatment options include antithyroid drugs, radioactive iodine therapy, and thyroidectomy, and they are usually used in combination with the medications that control symptoms of hyperthyroidism. This article focuses and discusses on the different approaches available for the treatment of hyperthyroidism. | hu_HU |
