Benign prostatic hyperplasia-related lower urinary tract symptoms can be attributed to three main factors: compensatory (detrusor hypertrophy and irritability), dynamic (prostatic smooth muscle and bladder neck tone), and static (enlarging prostatic adenoma causing mechanical obstruction). Reducing both dynamic and static components is a major strategy used in medical therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Clinical investigations conducted over the past ten years have demonstrated the benefits of medication therapy
