The representation of women in visual arts in the 19th century was partially influenced by the changing social factors that characterised Victorian England.In my essay, I attempt to explore how female figures demonstrate the social status of women and the changes that took place in the second half of the century through visual artefacts of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and other artists.
