By all the in-vitro and in-vivo experiments to evaluate effectiveness of lasers, PUI and other techniques in root canal disinfection, we can conclude that LAI technique can be at least as efficient as chemo-mechanical preparation, but for sure it is better than ultrasound for smear layer and debris removal. Erbium lasers and Nd:YAG lasers can be used for root canal disinfection. We can use Erbium laser in LAI and PIPS technique and Nd:YAG laser for evaporation and also contraction of smear layer. As a final conclusion, use of lasers can be recommended for root canal disinfection but only as an adjunct to traditional irrigation protocol. It can be expected that in the future, specific laser technologies will become important and essential part of contemporary dental practice.hu_HU
