The title of this work suggests that the Crimean War was not an ordinary conflict. Indeed, this war seems to be rather different from that fought against Napoleon I. Contrasting the two conflicts may hold interesting results, but the attention must now be drawn on the most serious difference between the two conflicts: when fighting Napoleon I, the British, the Russian, and the French governments had clear aims and a clear set of goals they wished to achieve with the war.
