The main aim of my thesis is to discover Harriet Tubman’s work as an Underground Railroad conductor. Tubman was born into slavery in Maryland. My research involves a thorough description of the system of slavery and Tubman’s years in slavery. Thus, revealing the trauma Black women had to endure. After escaping from Maryland, Tubman dedicated more than a decade of her life to aid fugitives in leaving behind the Peculiar Institution. During her years as a conductor, Tubman had to overcome several obstacles, but her dedication and determination earned her the nickname, “Moses.” At the time, Tubman was in contact with several prominent figures of the Underground Railroad with whom she worked closely. In my thesis, I analyze the hardships she faced and the sources of her success.
