Pharmacotherapy of Parkinson`s disease

Abstract

There are several drugs which are effective in symptomatic management of Parkinsons disease However there is no definitive pharmaceutical therapy for Parkinsons disease. Drugs used in symptomatic management of Parkinson`s disease include : dopaminergic agents such as levodopa/carbidopa and dopamine-agonists (ropinirole, pramipexole), monoamine oxidase type B inhibitors (selegiline, rasagiline), catecholo-methyltransferase inhibitors (entacapone, tolcapone), anticholinergic agents, amantadine plus alternative therapies and investigational agents.
