This work examines positive and negative sides water transportation services cause. There are two approaches used, economic and environmental. I also included in what ways design can be improved and use in future to have more sustainable ships. At the end, there is presented a possible and desirable future of these water transportation vehicles. Further studies are needed, on a more geographically focused level.
