dc.description.abstractThe understanding of Vascular calcification (VC) has been taken to the next level after this research. We can say with assurance that SMCs have a major role in VC. We also know for a fact that changes in intracellular calcium concentration affect both calcification and SMC dysfunction. Even though these facts were confirmed during this research, the relationship between the two of them as well as the effect it has on how SMCs’ intracellular calcium levels result in VC, is still understood on a partial scale. I believe with this study a new perspective of the pharmacology and clinical role of Piezo was seen and in the near future, it can pave the way for new pharmacology findings.
