Tuberculosis (TB) is a long-term infection caused by the bacteria which is Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis). Contrary to common opinion, tuberculosis does not just affect the respiratory system; it may also spread to other regions of the body, including the oral cavity. Oral-TB is usually overlooked in the differential diagnosis of oral lesions since it is assumed to be a rare condition. Even though oral TB is thought to be rare, it is responsible for 0.51 percent of all tuberculosis cases. Oral symptoms of TB are caused by infected sputum or hematogenous transmission. For TB bacilli to move throughout the body, including the maxilla and mandible, the vascular system offers an adequate transporter. While oral lesions are uncommon, they are essential for detecting and treating primary TB early.
