Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death across various continents, ethnicities, and economic classes. Therefore, its continued research and exploration into its pathomechanism is invaluable. While the importance of lifestyle and behavioral management and its impact on cardiovascular disease outcomes is of extreme importance and should not be ignored; this thesis focused more on the pharmacological aspect in addressing cardiovascular disease. Pharmacological management has been and continues to be an essential form of management for cardiovascular disease. While new drugs are being researched in order to improve outcome, improve patient adherence, and reduce side effects; some medications have remained a staple in the treatment protocol of various cardiovascular disease risk factors.
