Alcohol is one of the most widely consumed psychoactive substances in the world .Globally, 2.3 billion people are current drinkers Limited information exists on the connection between drinking alcohol and the development of HIV illness, despite the use of highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART).. A systematic review was conducted to identify peer-reviewed, original research studies reporting results on human subjects living with HIV/AIDS and consuming alcohol . The studies were published in English between 2010 and 2022. The aim of this thesis was to summarize the results of studies on adherence to HAART, risky sexual behaviors, and drug interactions among patients with HIV who consume alcohol.
