Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), which are highly expressed and released in the atrium and ventricles, respectively, and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP), which is primarily expressed in the vasculature, central nervous systems, and bone, are the most significant of the cardioprotective natriuretic peptides.
