Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Diagnosis of heliobacter pylori infection with the 13C-urea breath test: evaluation of two different breath sample collectors and assesment of four different sample collection intervalsKhurelbaatar, Nomin; Mezei, Zoltán; Laboratory Medicine; DE--Népegészségügyi Kar; Csaba Nagy, Attila; Gindele, Reka; Debreceni Egyetem::Népegészségügyi Kar; Debreceni Egyetem::Általános Orvostudományi KarHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is a worldwide problem. Depending on the geographic region the percentage of the population varies, but almost half the global population is infected. Usually acquired during childhood, in most cases the infection goes without clinical symptoms, but untreated H. pylori infection can have serious complications, resulting in gastric adenocarcinoma in its most severe forms. To address this global health burden, a number of diagnostic test, both invasive and non-invasive were developed. In patients with less severe symptoms, and without the need of endoscopic examination, as well as in children, the urea breath test (UBT) is the gold standard in the diagnosis of H. pylori infection.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Risk of Self-Medication Practices, Polypharmacy and Drug Interactions Among Elderly PatientsAfsan, Yazan; Csaba Nagy, Attila; Debreceni Egyetem::Népegészségügyi Kar; DE--Népegészségügyi Kar; József Szőllősi, Gergő; Debreceni Egyetem::Népegészségügyi KarDrug-drug interactions are becoming more frequent in health care as a risk factor responsible for many emergency cases and clinic visits. Polypharmacy is affecting more and more people, and it is higher among the elderlies who are on a high number of medicines. Self-medication practices are also common among elderly patients, which may be problematic if it was combined with polypharmacy. This cross-sectional study showed a high prevalence of polypharmacy, self-medication practices, and drug-drug interactions among elderly patients in the Syrian Arab Republic. Caution should be taken when prescribing chronic medicines, as well as awareness about the potential drug interactions while practicing self-medication should be raised.Tétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Risk of Self-Medication Practices, Polypharmacy and Drug Interactions Among Elderly PatientsAfsan, Yazan; Csaba Nagy, Attila; Debreceni Egyetem::Népegészségügyi Kar; DE--Népegészségügyi Kar; József Szőllősi, Gergő; Debreceni Egyetem::Népegészségügyi KarPolypharmacy (commonly defined as taking 5 or more drugs concurrently), is a risk factor threatening the health of the elderly. As well as, self-medication practices among the elderly can negatively affect elderly people. The potential drug-drug interactions between chronic and self-prescribed drugs are one of the risks that can affect their health and wellbeing. This thesis discusses this topic through a cross-sectional study to raise awareness among drug prescribers and the public.
