It offers effective remedies, such as increasing soil carbon content while lowering atmospheric carbon levels. The growing interest in inoculating soil with live microorganisms aims to enhance agricultural land carbon storage and sequestration capacity, modify degraded soil ecosystems, and sustain yields with fewer synthetic inputs. Agriculture has the potential to use soil microalgae as inoculants. However, the significance of these microorganisms in soil carbon sequestration and soil carbon stabilization under field conditions has yet to be fully understood. Large-scale commercial agriculture has focused on the development and use of inoculation products that promote plant growth, with a particular emphasis on enhancing yield attributes. Gaining more profound insights into soil microalgae’s role in soil carbon cycling is necessary to develop products that effectively support soil carbon sequestration and retention. This review comprehensively explores the direct and indirect mechanisms through which soil microalgae contribute to soil carbon sequestration, highlighting their potential as microbial inoculants in agricultural settings. This study underlines the need for more research to be conducted on microalgae inoculation into agricultural soil systems aimed at mitigating carbon emissions in the near future.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Insight into the dynamics of protected and non-protected carbon pools in four soils with different land usesFilep, Tibor; Zacháry, Dóra; Kovács, Andrea Balláné; Király, Csilla; Béni, Áron; Jakab, Gergely; Juhász, Evelin Kármen; Szalai, Zoltán; Balláné Kovács Andrea (1967-) (okleveles vegyész); Béni Áron (1978-) (vegyész); Juhász Evelin Kármen (1992-) (okleves környezetgazdálkodási agrármérnök; élelmiszerbiztonsági és -minőségi mérnök); Agrokémiai és Talajtani Intézet -- 1136; MÉK; Debreceni EgyetemBackground and aims To provide insight into the patterns of soil organic matter decomposition, changes in the quantity of biopolymers and the correlation between them were followed using 2D correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS) FTIR. Methods Soil organic matter fractions with different vegetation/land use (grass, spruce, oak and arable) were examined in a 1-year laboratory incubation. The non-protected organic matter fraction was calculated in terms of particulate organic matter (POM), the carbon stabilized in aggregates as S + A (sand + aggregates), and the mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM) as the s + c (silt and clay) fraction. Results Forest soils (spruce, oak) exhibited high C and N accumulation in the POM fraction (48, 43% and 29, 22% for spruce and oak, respectively) due to the limited decomposition, caused by low pH and high soil C/N ratio. The 2DCOS analysis evealed that carbohydrate-protein and carbohydrate-lignin correlations could be observed most frequently during incubation. The carbohydrate-protein correlation was negative in all cases, for all fractions and for all vegetation types, which suggests biogeochemical linkage between these biopolymers. The temporal order of the spectral changes was widely varied for the vegetation types and especially for the SOM fractions. Lipid/ Lignin → Carbohydrate or Lipid → Lignin/Carboxyl/ Protein sequences were found for the protected carbon pools (S + A and s + c), possibly because of the readily available abundant N compounds present in MAOM. Conclusion Although lipids and lignin are considered as chemically stable materials that commonly remain constant during decomposition, these compounds were found to be very susceptible in all the fractions.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető A Quantitative Analysis of University Admission Results for Hungarian Ethnic Minority Students in the Carpathian BasinDemeter, József; Czimre, Klára; Teperics, Károly; Demeter József (1976-) (PhD hallgató); Szilágyiné Czimre Klára (1974-) (geográfus); Teperics Károly (1963-) (geográfus); Földtudományi Intézet -- 751; Társadalomföldrajzi és Területfejlesztési Tanszék -- 720; TTK; Debreceni EgyetemThis study analyses the higher education admission results of Hungarian ethnic minority students in Hungary originating from Central and Eastern European countries (Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Romania) by secondary education background (national system vs. foreign system) and school-leaving qualification background (advanced and intermediate levels in Hungary and their native country). Students (n = 759) take (or have taken) part in undivided (5-year) and bachelor (3-year) programs at universities in Hungary and, for historical reasons, live as ethnic minorities in their home countries in the Carpathian Basin. There are significant differences in the number of students according to their secondary education background. Of the admitted students, 83.7% graduated from a national system secondary school and 16.3% from a foreign system secondary school before entering higher education. Using a Mann–Whitney U-test, we confirmed that the admission scores of students from the national secondary education system are significantly different from the scores of students who graduated from a foreign secondary education system (p < 0.001). The results of the Jonckheere–Terpstra test demonstrated that students with advanced-level exam results performed significantly better than those who entered higher education with intermediate-level or native country examination results (p < 0.001). However, there is no detectable difference (p > 0.05) between students who graduate at the intermediate level and students who graduate with a native country certificate. A regression model, based on the median admission scores, exhibited a trend of improving results for foreign students. The R2 quadratic determination coefficient is 0.705. This study provides insights into the educational pathways and decisions of Hungarian students residing abroad, underlining the influence of the national context and public education systems on their educational trajectories.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető From Waste to Worth: Using Fermented Orange Pomace in Sustainable Feed Production(2024) Elsakhawy, Tamer; Alshaal, Tarek Ali Ahmed Ibrahim; Elakhdar, Ammar; El,-Akhdar, IbrahimTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Comparative analysis of the postadmission and antemortem oropharyngeal and rectal swab microbiota of ICU patients(2024) Petrilla, Annamária; Németh, Péter; Fauszt, Péter; Szilágyi-Rácz, Anna Anita; Mikolás, Maja; Szilágyi-Tolnai, Emese; Dávid, Péter; Stágel, Anikó; Gál, Ferenc; Gál, Kristóf; Siposné Sohajda, Réka; Pham, Trinh; Stündl, László; Biró, Sándor; Gálné Remenyik, Judit; Paholcsek, MelindaTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Water Quality: long-Term Assessment Using Water Quality Indices and GIS(2024) Balla, Dániel Zoltán; Bodroginé Zichar, Marianna; Mester, Tamás; Kiss, EmőkeTétel Korlátozottan hozzáférhető Upregulation of inhibitor of DNA binding 1 and 3 is important for efficient thermogenic response in human adipocytesArianti Rini; Vinnai Boglárka Ágnes; Alrifai Rahaf; Karadsheh Gyath; Qais Al-Khafaji Yousif; Póliska Szilárd; Győry Ferenc; Fésüs László; Kristóf Endre; Arianti Rini (1991-) (Biochemist); Vinnai Boglárka Ágnes (1996-) (Molekuláris biológus); Póliska Szilárd (1978-) (molekuláris biológus); Győry Ferenc (1964-) (sebész); Fésüs László (1947-) (orvos biokémikus); Kristóf Endre Károly (1987-) (kutató orvos, sejtbiokémikus); Biokémiai és Molekuláris Biológiai Intézet -- 7; Sebészeti Intézet -- 85; Genomi Medicina és Bioinformatikai Szolgáltató Laboratórium -- 48; ÁOK; Debreceni EgyetemBrown and beige adipocytes can be activated by β-adrenergic agonist via cAMP-dependent signaling. Performing RNA-sequencing analysis in human cervical area-derived adipocytes, we found that dibutyryl-cAMP, which can mimic in vivo stimulation of browning and thermogenesis, enhanced the expression of browning and batokine genes and upregulated several signaling pathway genes linked to thermogenesis. We observed that the expression of Inhibitor of DNA binding and cell differentiation (ID) 1 and particularly ID3 was strongly induced by the adrenergic stimulation. The degradation of ID1 and ID3 elicited by the ID antagonist AGX51 during thermogenic activation prevented the induction of proton leak respiration that reflects thermogenesis and abrogated cAMP analogue-stimulated upregulation of thermogenic genes and mitochondrial complex I, II, and IV subunits, independently of the proximal cAMP-PKA signaling pathway. The presented data suggests that ID proteins contribute to efficient thermogenic response of adipocytes during adrenergic stimulation.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető How Scholars Think about Greenwashing Over the Last Two Decades. However, its application is relatively new, particularly in greenwashing within the environment. As a comprehensive concept, sustainability encompasses various aspects, and greenwashing has emerged as a specific branch that has garnered increased attention and research in recent years. The study's primary purpose is to deploy the bibliometric method to analyze greenwashing literature from 2003 to 2023 using the Web of Science Core Collection and VOSviewer software to identify and visualize the intellectual landscape of the field. The number of scientific publications related to the topic confirms the importance and popularity of the subject. In this period, a total of 807 publications on the topic of greenwashing were identified, and three different periods were set. Most publications and citations primarily come from the USA, China, and other developed European countries. In terms of journals, prominent publications hold positions in the top 10, such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Business Strategy and The Environment, and Sustainability. The topic mainly concerns social and natural sciences branches, emphasizing corporate social responsibility and environmental concerns. Regarding keywords, four clusters can be distinguished as being in the center of governmental, consumer, corporate, and management issues. The ongoing trends predict a persistent rise in worldwide publications regarding greenwashing.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Sustainable Wheat Cultivation in Sandy Soils: Impact of Organic and Biofertilizer Use on Soil Health and Crop Yield(2024) El,-Akhdar, Ibrahim; Shabana, Mahmoud. It plays a key role in preventing diseases, maintaining health, and creating a balanced diet, as well as in mental and physical health. Overweight and obesity are serious problems that can result in various non-communicable diseases; thus, managing the body weight of those who are overweight or obese without pathological changes would help reduce the prevalence of these diseases. By reducing body weight, not only individual health expenses but also public health costs could be reduced. To do so, it is necessary to assess at what levels consumers perceive their own health status, as well as the extent to which they pay attention to body weight management. Our research aimed to contribute to the foundation of public intervention programs by exploring some characteristics of body weight management among Hungarian consumers. Methods: We used a large-sample questionnaire survey involving a total of 550 people. Various statistical methods were used to analyze the data, including descriptive statistics, association tests, and hypothesis tests. Results: According to our results, those who want to lose weight are more engaged in managing their body weight than those who are satisfied with their weight or who want to gain weight, often aiming to reach an ideal weight through diet and exercise, and are willing to invest more in healthier lifestyles, both in terms of their diet and physical activity. In this regard, we did not find significant differences between the genders. Conclusions: Based on our findings, we can conclude that dietitians and doctors should play a more active role in guiding lifestyle changes since the majority of our respondents do not consider them credible sources of information on healthy eating, and they do not consult them on this topic. On the other hand, however, a much larger proportion seek information from them regarding regular physical activity, and after personal trainers, they are considered the second most authentic source of information.Tétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Multispectral UAV-Based Disease Identification Using Vegetation Indices for Maize Hybrids(2024) Radócz, László; Juhász, Csaba; Tamás, András; Illés, Árpád; Ragán, PéterTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Multimodal Approach of Improving Spatial Abilities(2024) Balla, Tamás; Tóth, Róbert; Bodroginé Zichar, Marianna; Hoffmann, MiklósTétel Szabadon hozzáférhető Experimental investigation of centrifugal pump machine and its faults through different type of DAQ system and selecting one based on statistical approach(2024) Dave, G.
