The dissertation focuses on algae associations of oxbows and lowland rivers in Hungary. The first part of the dissertation discusses pelagic phytoplankton in shallow oxbows. The second part is about phytoplankton patchiness in a sheltered, shallow oxbow. In the third part an evaluation of desmids is presented. In the fourth part characteristic types of the potamo-plankon are discussed. Finally, results and/or proposals regarding the riverine phytoplankton quality assessment is presented.

A disszertáció magyarországi holtágak és alföldi folyóvizek alga együtteseivel foglalkozik. A disszertációban öt témakört mutatunk be, melyek a következők: sekély holtágak pelagiális fitoplankton vizsgálata; sekély, szélvédett holtág fitoplankton mintázata; Desmidiales fajokon alapuló értékelési módszer alkalmazása hazai állóvizeinkre; jellegzetes folyóvízi fitoplankton típusok; folyóvizek fitoplankton alapú minősítési módszere.
