When people hear the phrase illegal immigration, it raises tensions. The issue of illegal immigration is one of the most debated ones in the United States and it has been a dire problem for the U.S. government in the last few decades that has to be faced and solved. Every year, millions of immigrants go through the U.S-Mexican border and most of them are illegal. They try to cross the border in hope of a new and better life that America can offer. The flow of illegal immigrants is due to the low standard of living and poor working conditions in parts of Mexico, so they come to the U.S. to provide a better standard of life for their family. Mexican immigration has influenced American economy and culture many ways. There are now Spanish classes in schools, Spanish television and radio channels, and bilingual signs in many areas of the U.S. and there are also Latino districts. Besides these changes several problems emerged, like human, drug and also weapons smuggling. In order to deal with the problem of illegal immigration, the United States introduced several acts concerning immigration and moved toward a tougher immigration policy and reforms. Over the last years the military was also involved in the immigration reform and they were sent to the southern border of the United States to help the work of the Border Patrol.
