I have examined the classical and modern vampire characters in English (British ad American) literature, taking representations from Bram Stoker, Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer. These vampires have introduced several assumptions about the undead, and established several symbols as well. They are alike in some cases, and different in others, but one aspect is evident: the vampire symbolises the eternal time that is present everywhere, and is objective, and witness lives and fates. No matter if it appears in the shape of an old man, a rebellious young actor or a high school student, the immortal has effects in every age, every part of the world, every time: from dusk, till – who knows when.
