This work is about proverbs that are in connection with the emotions happiness and love. I chose the analysis of proverbs to be the topic of my thesis because I am very interested in this topic. Proverbs are still part of our language, and in many cases, it does not matter how old they are, most of them are still very useful: we can express our opinion in a short but wise way. I chose to analyse them form an emotional and metaphorical point of view because it is very interesting how proverbs reflect the metaphors of everyday language, and also how they have preserved some metaphors or images that we do not use elsewhere today. In my thesis, after giving a short introduction about proverbs in general, I will analyse proverbs of emotion according to the metaphors that are present in them, and also give some history of them. In the case of Hungarian examples the square brackets always mean variants.
