I will present what happened in the Hungarian revolution in 1956 and how the international situation affected the formation of the revolution. I will examine what was the policy of Austria and of the United States (US) in connection with the accepting of the Hungarian refugees. After this overview, I will demonstrate through a personal example, my uncle, Charles K. Turk, how the Hungarian revolution had determined his life.
