The Bible is not only a book, and there are so many aspects from which it could be analyzed that such an enterprise would probably require a lifetime. It can be approached as a book of ancient stories or as the holy Book of Christianity communicating God’s message to mankind. As a work of art that began to emerge over three thousand years ago and which has been handed down from generation to generation through copies and translations, it also offers material for linguistic insights. [...] The aim of my study, however, is not the interpretation of the Scripture but the examination of its text from a linguistic point of view and the historical background of the text(s) to be studied. I would like to point out how its language has changed over the centuries and what factors have influenced the translation process.
