In my thesis I would like to examine the Narnia tales more closely, regarding the mythical structure and imagery of the stories, using Northrop Frye’s conceptual system. As indicated in the title, I am ready to prove that the Chronicles of Narnia is more than a just a fairy tale or a direct allegory, it is in fact finely and consciously recreated Christian Mythology, which contains all the substantial mythical patterns in a way that it is enjoyable both to a scholar and to a child. I would like to focus on the similarity between the structure of Christianity and different mythological systems, and show how Lewis is capable of organizing them into one comprehensive story.
