My thesis focuses on how the soldiers' masculinity changed throughout the Great War (1914-1918). To demonstrate my point, I am examining war poetry and two novels written on the subjects of masculinity and masculine crisis. Besides, I also analyze the role of shell shock as a strong changing factor.
