This paper investigates selected current applications of ultrasound by anesthesiologists and critical care practitioners. Diagnostic applications including hemodynamic monitoring, lung ultrasound and neurological examinations as well as therapeutic interventions including placement of central venous catheters, central and peripheral nerve blocks are discussed.
