Diabetes mellitus affects 1 in every 12 people on earth and was associated with over 4 million deaths in 2014 making it one of the 10 leading causes of death in the world. The burden of Diabetes is grim with 1 person somewhere in the world dying every 7 seconds from a diabetes related complication, while almost 10% of global funds go into the management of diabetes. This picture is however made even worse when hypertension superimposes diabetes.
