Pain is a subjective feeling occurring in various forms and localisations, thus its complexity drives patients to seek relief from health care professionals. Pain relief is of as much importance as the resolution of dental complications, and patient management. Whilst administration of analgesia is for acute pain, they implement substantial anti-inflammatory effects. In order to avoid patient pain, clinician must administer analgesia in the form of opioid or non-opioid, however combinations may have most success in effectively reducing pain, thus it is imperative to have a vast understating of pharmacological features. However parallel to this, as a result of dissatisfaction with traditional medicine, there has been a significant increase in the use of alternative medicine, and increased patient awareness and understanding in decision making.
