Adolescence is a critical life period for changes in dietary habits and nutritional status, which may have long-term consequences and affect risk of noncommunicable diseases and health status later in life. This study attempted to examine dietary habits and nutritional status among adolescents aged 13-19 years old in Albania. For this aim a cross-sectional survey was conducted in a sample of 11,206 adolescents, 13-19 years old in 12 counties of Albania. Using a structured self-administered questionnaire, data on socio-demographic characteristics, dietary habits and self-reported anthropometric data were collected between 2015-2016. Dietary habits of adolescents in Albania are strongly related to study level and perceived body weight. Strong differences exist between dietary habits and nutritional status among adolescents with regard to study level and sex. Although findings of this study should be interpreted with caution, sufficient elements warrant careful surveillance and more complex research of dietary habits and nutritional status of adolescents in Albania.
