Colorectal cancer presents as one of the major health burdens nowadays, accounting for approximately 10% of cancer-related deaths in the western world. Screening with appropriate tools and methods has been proven extremely important in the prompt diagnosis and treatment of this cancer. Management includes surgery for primary as well as metastatic tumors, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, and adjuvant chemotherapy. Novel therapies such as targeted- and immunotherapy, have been integrated in the management, in order to improve the outcome of patients with recurrent or metastatic colorectal cancer.
