Karcag region, our study area, is characterized by the widespread horticultural activities in hobby gardens all around the town using saline water, which caused secondary salinization for a long time. This phenomenon is threatening soil fertility, thus its function, causing a reduction in agricultural production. In the other hand, freshwater resource suffers from scarcity, and meanwhile, due to the increase of the population growth, intensive agricultural practices using irrigation technique, have become urgent to supply the population with their needs. However, these practices consist mainly of using saline water despite its negative effects in promoting secondary salinization. Through this research work, we proposed the use of deficit irrigation strategy (DI), a new strategy having the potential to optimize water productivity in horticulture. Another part related to this work involved the monitoring of the groundwater quality of the area on the base of monthly water sampling.
