In my thesis, the focus is on the newly created intelligence section, more importantly on the impact of the intelligence on the American military campaigns and successes. I argue that military intelligence was vital on the western front due to the nature of trench warfare, and the importance of artillery on the battlefields and that without modern military intelligence, there is no modern war. Intelligence gathering is inseparable from modern warfare and without it the United States would not have been able to be successful and to influence the war to such extent as it did. The American intelligence was a great factor in the preservation of manpower and in conducting successful offensives and missions on foreign land against an enemy with more experience.
