Depression is a common mental health problem that involves a low mood and a loss of interest in activities. In persons with a chronic medical disease, depression often makes the management of chronic illness more difficult. Recently, vitamin D has been reported in the scientific and lay press as an important factor that may have significant health benefits in the prevention and treatment of many chronic illnesses, such as depression. Sun exposure is known as the most important source of vitamin D. Unfortunately, people who live in northern regions can be difficult to obtain all vitamin D. With a pharmacoepidemiological approach, this study shows the relationship between sunshine duration and antidepressant consumption.
