Absztrakt

My main aim is to establish the traits of her unique type of feminism in four plays selected for scrutiny, including Fefu and Her Friends, The Conduct of Life (1986), Sarita (1984), and Mud (1983). In the course of my investigation first I will attempt to establish an analogy between the traits of both palimpsestic confinement and insanity and the Fornesian use of female mental illness and enclosure. I will then compare the motif of violence as used in feminist plays and in the four chosen plays. I will finish by discussing the non-feminist pessimistic endings of the selected dramas and their purpose from a feminist perspective.
