| dc.description.abstract | In my thesis I examined the English, the American culture and gender roles in three films made about the Abdication Crisis. I endeavoured to find raptures for stereotypes based on nationality and sexes. I drew the conclusion that the English have many common features with the Americans. Based on the royal family of the thirties, the English seem to consume a lot , prefer popular culture and use slang, exaggerated language, though, these features are generally attached to the Americans. I also realized that the ideal of the gentleman cannot be fully applied to the royal brothers, either. As for gender issues I also concluded that the men behaved differently from the pattern that their sex would demand and women shifted to virilization both in conduct and gender roles. | hu_HU |
