The aim of this thesis is to get a general overview about how successful and effective communication can be achieved through a sequence of well-selected activities; what types of spoken language exist and what the differences are among them; what kind of communicative tasks are appropriate to improve students’ communicative skills in the classroom; in certain periods in the past how different approaches have changed the roles of communication from the very little use of the second language towards the importance of speaking in different methods; the thesis will also deal with how a student can become a good learner of the foreign language and through two different kinds of speaking tasks it will examine how efficiently students at a certain level and age use the second language.
