A videójátékok hatása a nyelvtanulásra

Abstract

After the appearance of computers, consoles and videogames, there has been a great debate around the effects of them on their users’ problem-solving, communication and other mental skills. Both teachers and parents are concerned about the advantages and disadvantages of modern technology in everyday life of their children or students. In my thesis I try to explore the side-effects of using computers on language efficiency, especially playing with videogames and other entertaining computer programs. I support my findings with the results of the survey which I had filled out with young people who had been playing computer games for years. Besides the results of the survey I rely on my own videogaming experience and my interview subject’s who has proficiency in IT field and also in language learning. At the end of my thesis I strive to highlight the proper ways of using computer games in the classroom to improve students’ English language skills.
