The fight for gender equality has been going on for a long time with many significant milestones. However, there is one filed that has been neglected a lot, which is sports. In this essay, I would like look back and reflect on some of the key points of this issue, listing some of the obstacles women had to face and the way they overcame them and proved the naysayers wrong. The thesis was written on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the iconic 1967 Boston Marathon, where Kathrine Switzer became the first woman to officially run the race.hu_HU
