dc.description.abstractThe period from the end of the Napoleonic wars and the reign of Queen Victoria is extremely absorbing. The years after 1815 were the years of transformations, of rapid social and economic development and of major political change. As a result of these I am going to write in chapter 4 about the political England and want to give a general portrait of the age. I concentrate on the major prime ministers: Liverpool, Melbourne, Peel, Palmerston, Gladstone and Disraeli. The government went through a transition and the Royal Family’s role changed. After Albert’s death, Victoria remained in seclusion and her popularity declined as a result of few public appearances. (She wore black for the rest of her life.) In time Victoria’s depression lifted and resumed her royal duties. She celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 1887 and ten years later her Diamond Jubilee. She died on 22 January 1901. We can discover the great reforms during the nineteenth century. In the last chapter I show several of these, and present the changes during Queen Victoria’s reign, the achievements of average people and find the answer: Why she become a role model?hu_HU
